When you’re discussing a property with the seller’s agent, it’s important to get as much information as you can. Here is a short list of questions that can get you information you need to make your decision.
Find out exactly what is included in the sale. Some fixtures may not be included, so be sure to ask about any that you are unsure of. Some appliances may be included. Get the exact boundaries of the property.
Ask how long the property has been on the market. If it has been listed for a long time, the seller might accept a lower price to sell quickly. If it’s only been on the market a short time, and is a highly desirable property, you may want to consider making an offer quickly to avoid a bidding war with another buyer.
How long did the owners live in the house? A short residence could indicate problems.
What can the agent tell you about the neighborhood? The agent should have, or be able to get, up to date information about the neighborhood. You may want to ask about property values, school districts, and other local interests.
