You’re ready to list your house, but are you ready for the upcoming viewings? Try these quick tips to increase the visual appeal of your home!
Spruce up the entry point. This is the first part of your home that potential buyers will experience, so it needs to look top-notch. Give the front door a fresh coat of paint and a shiny new handle, repair a sagging screen door, and make sure the house numbers, doorbell, and porch light are all clean and shiny.
Store clutter. You want the home to look as spacious as possible, so store any items that could clutter the rooms. Try keeping the typical storage areas–cupboards, closets, garage–as clear as possible, since the buyers will want to see the available space in those areas. Move large items, such as furniture, to an external storage unit, and use plastic bins under beds to store smaller items neatly.
“Float” your furniture. Sofas and chairs that are pushed back against the walls can impede the flow of traffic through a room, and make the space feel smaller. Try grouping your furniture in conversation areas away from walls.
Re-purpose little-used areas. Empty spaces tend to gather clutter or look awkward. You can turn an unused room intoa game room, change a corner into a reading nook, etc.
Use curtains that let light in. Avoid heavy drapes or blinds. Light fabrics will let in the light without sacrificing your privacy.
Bring the outdoors inside. Add some freshly cut flowers to the table to add a splash of color and hint of fragrance. It’s an added bonus and selling point if the flowers come from the property’s garden.
Have a wonderful day and please let me know if you need anything.
