In today’s connected society, things like your website, Facebook, blog, and social media can be excellent sources of lead generation, but nothing can replace the skills to engage with people on a personal level. One of the most common questions you will be asked is, “What’s going on with the market?”
This is your chance to engage with the other person, and find out their reason for asking. Respond with, “That depends on whether you’re looking to buy, sell, invest, or rent; which one interests you?” Once you’ve determined what they want to know, you know what to do! Answer their questions about the part of the market that concerns them, and try to get an appointment if possible.
But what if they deflect with, “Oh, I was just curious.” Don’t let the conversation drop; say “I’m curious, who are you asking for?” See if you can get more information, and use this to generate another referral.
